The ceilings of Shopify's native search
Shopify's predictive search is decent for small stores. Where it falls short:
- No semantic search. "Dark circles" doesn't find "eye contour" even if you have it as a tag. Search works by word and tag match, not by concept.
- Limited side filters. You generate facets from collections and metafields, but they require manual configuration and don't adapt to the query.
- Multi-language depends on the app. Translate & Adapt covers the catalog but the search engine doesn't understand cross-language synonyms without manual configuration.

How to install Findalo on Shopify
- Sign up for free and go to your Findalo panel → Integration → Shopify.
- Type your store domain (
your-store.myshopify.com) and click Connect with Shopify. - In your Shopify admin, authorize the permissions the app asks for (catalog and inventory, purchase events for analytics, and store pages for the assistant) with Install. You land back in the panel and the catalog syncs on its own.
- In the theme editor (Online Store → Themes → Customize → App embeds), enable Findalo and save. Click your store's search icon and the search opens with your products.
No tokens, no code, and product, price and stock changes arrive on their own. Works on any Shopify plan (Basic, Shopify, Advanced, Plus). See the step-by-step guide in the docs and a real dev store with Findalo running (pass 1234).
Frequently asked questions
Does Shopify's native search fall short?
Yes, on stores past ~1,000 products. Shopify's native search uses word matching and has a high zero-result rate when customers have typos or search by synonyms. It doesn't generate filters by feature, and search inside collections is limited.
Does Findalo install as a public Shopify app?
Yes. Findalo is a public Shopify app and you connect it in one click from your panel: under Integration → Shopify, type your store domain and click “Connect with Shopify”, authorize the app's permissions in your Shopify admin, and the catalog syncs on its own. No tokens, no code. About 5 minutes.
What's the difference between Findalo and Algolia or Klevu?
Algolia is excellent, but its pricing scales by search and by record, which explodes on large catalogs, and NeuralSearch (AI) is reserved for ~$500+/month plans. Klevu (now Athos Commerce) starts at ~$449/month on an annual contract. Findalo Pro covers most SMB stores for €49/month with semantic AI included and no lock-in.
Does it support Shopify Markets and multi-currency?
Yes. Findalo respects the price that applies to the shopper based on the active market (Shopify Markets) and keeps currencies independent. Configured by default, no rules to write.
Do I have to touch my theme code?
No. The search is switched on as an app embed: in the theme editor (Online Store → Themes → Customize → App embeds) you turn on the “Findalo” block and save. The widget hooks into the existing header search icon and opens a modal with results. It doesn't rewrite your theme or break Dawn / Online Store 2.0, and if you switch themes you just turn the block on again.
